Getting Started

The Active Switch online tool allows YOU to set a personal goal and keep track of your activities. The tool converts the distance you travel into greenhouse gas emissions reduced and calories burned, so that you can see the health and environmental impacts of making the Active Switch. Click here to download the Active Switch online tool guide.

To help you get started, please take a moment and complete steps 1-3.


Step 1: How do I create an account?

a) To create an account on the Active Switch online tool, simply click on the "Register" button

b) Choose your community and indicate whether you would like to create an individual account or a family account

c) Complete the registration and click on the "I Accept These Terms" button. A registration confirmation message will appear and you will be directed to your new account.

d) An email containing your account details will be sent to the email address you have provided.


Step 2: How do I enter and edit my Personal Goal?

a) Click on the "Login" icon to log into your online account.

b) Upon your first log-in to Active Switch, you will be prompted to select an active mode of transportation, as well as a daily "Personal Goal" in kilometres, steps or minutes that you wish to achieve.

NOTE: If you had previously registered an account on the Activate Your Commute online tool, you will be prompted to enter a new personal goal upon logging into the Active Switch online tool for the first time.

c) Simply type in your goal in kilometres (km) or steps and click the "Submit" button.

d) At any time after this, you can edit your personal goal from your "Activity Log" page. Click the "Edit Your Goal" button and follow the same process.


Step 3: How do I log my daily activity online?

a) Click on the "Login" icon to log into your online account. Enter your email and password, and then click on the "Login" button.

b) Track your activity in the "Log Activity" section.

  • Select the date of your activity
  • Select a trip purpose from the drop-down menu:
    • Commute
    • Business
    • Exercise
    • Personal
  • Select your activity from the drop-down menu:
    • Walking
    • Cycling
    • Jogging/Running
    • Skateboarding
    • Rollerblading
    • Other
  • Select desired distance measurement (km, steps or minutes) from the dropdown menu and enter the distance.

Review your information. If your information is correct, click "Save" and your data will be displayed on your "Activity Log" page.

If your information is incorrect, please edit the information in the "Edit Activity" section. Select the date of your activity that you would like to edit and click on the "Edit" button.

To help track your daily activity, visit the Tools page where you can download and print a one page "Activity Tracker" or a version of the tracker that will fit into your wallet.
